we lost maddie, one of our canine copilots this spring, and have found quick camping breaks from the now-much-quieter house a relief. our other dog, ripley, seems to think we should live at state parks.
i think we forget how easy it is to camp ala westy, because we couldn't get away without setting up someone to cover our business. (we're in the clear and inc. free as of 1/1/10) pretty much everything can be pre-packed, although i don't like to leave food in the van to tempt the critters/crawlers. we're still working out the details, but i'd love for the packing to be as quick as set-up once we've arrived. swear to god we pull into a spot and have camp set in 10 minutes.
